Celebrating 60.....Calgary Family Photography

This was a fun afternoon.  I spent a couple hours in downtown Calgary and Prince's Island Park with Mary and her family.  They were gathered together to celebrate her Dad.  Ed was celebrating his 60th birthday and they decided it was a good idea to gift him some family photos......I concur!  I met up with the family and we wandered around the park and area finding quiet spots to take photos.

It took about 5 whole minutes for me to realize that this family was/is fun.  Such a warm group of people, they had me laughing and joking along in a matter of minutes.  Ed and Helen have been married 35 years and it was so neat to see the twinkle in their eyes as they looked at each other.  Ed had asked that I make sure I get some romantic urban photos and although I wasn't exactly sure what he meant I think I succeeded.  All he wanted was some shots of him holding his wife....mission accomplished.

The park was busy with others wanting to enjoy the gorgeous weather and I knew I was in good company when someone mentioned the exact thing I was thinking.....have you ever noticed how some dog owners resemble their dogs? Well....we saw evidence that afternoon along with a few other freaky things.  It was a great time with this family and hope they enjoy the images as much as I did shooting them!  I have too many I love to call a favourite in this series....such a gorgeous group!

If you're wanting to update your family photos and get some new images up on your wall.....send me a message!

Mariah and Bethany - Beyond Graduation - Calgary Senior/Grad Photography

These two gorgeous girls are friends and cousins and are both embarking on a great adventure......life after high school!  I was lucky enough to spend an afternoon with these two beautiful young women in the park.  I had a great time getting to know them a little bit better and hear their plans for the next year.  Such an exciting time- full of choices, decisions and uncertainty all the while full of anticipation.  After my time I have no doubt that these two are going to have an exciting future full of great things.

Thanks for allowing me hang out with you Mariah and Bethany.  I had fun!  You were so easy to work with and shoot....you will see below how easy it was....soooooo pretty the both of you!

Christina - ROCKS Her Dress - Calgary Wedding Photography

It was a gorgeous evening and I was ready for another great Rock the Dress photoshoot!  Fish Creek Park was out in full splendour and I enjoyed my pre-scout jaunt through the grass.  I love wandering around looking for new places to shoot and this evening I wasn't disappointed!

You may remember Christina from her New Year's Eve wedding at Heritage Park.....we had quite different weather to work with and I was glad to finally shoot her gown in it's entirety!  We didn't realized until after we'd finished on her wedding day that all her photos were with her shrug on! Her shrug was great and I loved it, but we didn't get to see the whole package....but a few days ago we remedied that!

I had a great time wandering around with Christina and getting her set up for shots.  At one point in time I stood completely still and said, "I'm now going to call you Katniss."  The light, her gorgeous face, the forest and the grass, and the look in her eyes (and it wasn't the wild...who do I kill next look....).  It all screamed Hunger Games to me...sadly I wasn't packing my bow and arrows so we couldn't complete the look. ;-) Christina hasn't completed the series yet as she wants to read a book and then watch the movie....so....nobody wreck the last book for her!! Anyways....Christina totally nailed this shoot....as you will see below.

Thank you Christina! I had fun and it was great catching up and hearing how you and Adam are doing.

If you are wanting to get back into your wedding gown and head to a new location and are willing to be a little adventurous in a dress OR....if you're needing some new images for your wall...contact me!

The RADIANT Jen - Calgary Beauty Photography

This session was a BLAST! You see....I know Jen fairly very very well....I guess for the last 35 years....you see...she's my sister...my little sister...my baby seeeeester....piccolo.....Jenny Penny.  We decided to try and do a RADIANT shoot while we were together in BC visiting my parents.  And the shoot became a family affair.  Our other sister Nikki showed her reflector prowess, my Mom watched my boys during the shoot and Dad came along as muscle.  You see we shot in the middle of bear country and Dad had to come along after mentioning that we might want to take bear spray along.  Once that was mentioned my sisters started FAAAREaking out about bears.

Okay...faaaareaking may be a little strong...and it was more just one sister tense about it.  Many laughs were had right from the start as my Dad started yelling "Hey Bear!" as we wandered right through beary delicious appetizers...(did you get that? Beary? Like Berry?.......aaahhh..nevermind).  I do believe it was Nik that asked, "why would we greet the bear? Shouldn't we be yelling "GET AWAY BEAR!"'. Yes....as I said it was the start of the laughter.  So...as Dad "kept bear vigil" we started to shoot....after a while I noticed he was no longer being so vigilant and was scouring the riverbed for rocks....sigh....boys and rocks....apparently it never gets old....in any case, if anyone is looking for bear detail...give my dad a call!

It has become my belief that the people hardest to shoot are those you love....or those you love make you work a LOT harder! Jen? Made me work. And I loved it!  To show you how hard she made me work take a look at the last batch of images...this was shot in about a span of 8 seconds...the girl kept acting up every time I set her up...sigh....

Anyways, here is my gorgeous lil' sis Jen. She's not only beautiful but she is funny, motivated, encouraging and loves...deeply.  She is an amazing woman; takes whatever life hands her and keeps moving!  Jen is focussed, fun, and fabulous! She works hard but when she's not working, she's working hard at having a good time. I am very honoured and proud to call her my sister and my friend.  I love you Jen!

If you're interested in having some photos of you...just for you or for those you love please contact me about my Radiant/Beauty shoots.  We all need some great images of ourselves don't we?

Jen.....RAWR!

I LOVE this shot of Jen...not my normal edit or pose but LOVE it...isn't she gorgeous?

The many faces of Jen....I love them all.

Remember I said Jen made me work? Well, here is Jen "trying" to follow my directions and get ready for a shot...needless to say it took a while for her to focus and for me to wipe the tears from eyes as I was laughing so hard!

Victoria- ROCKS her Dress! - Calgary Wedding Photography

Meet Victoria......gorgeous woman, beautiful bride, wonderful friend.  Victoria and Shane were married a few years ago in Okotoks and like most women Victoria wanted to put her dress on again.  And who am I to say no?  We made plans to hit the great outdoors and get some more shots of her wedding gown.

Of course as I head out early to scout some spots I run right into a thunderstorm! And I was soooooo thankful for that storm as it provided some aMAzing sky!  The rain cleared, the dark sky slowly oh so slowly moved away and we shot in the hot sun...thankfully there was some water nearby and Victoria was more than agreeable to cooling off in it!

Thank you so much Victoria for agreeing to get wet! You totally ROCKED your dress and I am so blessed to have been able to shoot it.

If you're wanting to throw your wedding gown on for some more photos, maybe some fun photos please contact me!
