Stephen and Pam throw a party! - Canmore Wedding Photography

Stephen and Pam know how to throw a party!  The Canmore Golf and Curling Club looked amazing!  The huge windows overlooking the pond and Rocky mountains just enhanced all the work that Pam and Lesley from Magical Moments Event Planning poured into the venue.  I loved the vases with the blue and purple orchids that adorned the tables.  I also loved the wish tree that Stephen and Pam created asking their guests to write down wishes/advice.  It was neat to see the wishes were written on their engagement images and that they have something so tangible from their guests to keep forever!

We were treated to a delicious dinner courtesy of the the clubhouse and I could have went back for seconds and thirds...but....I did have to work!  I spent some time hanging around the candy bar, cupcakes and cake table as it looked sooooo yummy.  The variety of cupcake flavours was more than a little tempting!

Ray of SunRayz Entertainment kept the party going and had the dance floor full as he played music.  Stephen and Pam had taken dance lessons and watching their first dance was so inspiring!  I soooo want to take lessons now!  They put on a great show!  And that wasn't Pam's only show....she and one of her bridesmaids, Heather, had a dance number and sang along to Beyonce's Single Ladies....I laughed and enjoyed it so much!

All in all it was a great day and I am so thankful that Stephen and Pam allowed me to spend the day with them.  I love getting to hang out with couples and see a little more of who they are.  So what did I learn about Stephen and Pam last Saturday?  They have a supportive family, encouraging friends, a deep love for one another, they love to laugh, they've share a sweet tooth and Pam is gracious enough to allow Stephen to smash a cupcake in her face!  Thanks again Stephen and Pam, I had a great day!

Thanks to:
Canmore Golf and Curling Club for an amazing venue and meal!
Lesley & her team at Magical Moments Event Planning for bringing Pam's ideas to fruition!
Phil of Philip Chong Flower Bar for the gorgeous floral arrangements!
For the Love of Cakes for the yummy cupcakes and cake!
Ray of SunRayz Entertainment for keeping the party moving!

I LOVED their first dance.....the lessons definitely paid off!

Stephen had one photo request the whole day.....he wanted a picture of him smashing the cupcake into Pam's face...well...he didn't smash but rather gently pushed! :-)

Stephen and Pam Got Married! - Canmore Wedding Photography

All you could hear was the babbling brook, some birds singing and Stephen catching his breath as he gazed at his beautiful bride. That and me sniffing away the tears as I was privileged enough to capture their first look this last Saturday.  A few moments earlier Pam and I had this conversation....
"I'm going to cry before I even see him!" Pam said to me as we walked through the forest towards Stephen.  "I think I'm going to cry watching both of you cry!" I said back to her.  It was a beautiful moment, one that started off many more memorable moments throughout the whole day.

The Canmore Golf and Curling Club was a gorgeous spot to get married.  Stephen and Pam committed their lives to each other under a warm sunny sky with the Rockies as a backdrop...gorgeous? Yes! More than a few guests donned colourful rain ponchos for the ceremony, but not in case of rain rather in case of Pam shedding more than a few tears.  She held it together and promised to love and honor Stephen for the rest of her life without her expected waterworks.

I enjoyed seeing how Pam pulled her day together and was touched by all the little things she thought of.  So much so that it deserves it's own post!  (coming soon!).  We had a great time wandering around Canmore capturing Stephen and Pam and their wedding party and enjoyed getting to know them a little bit better.

I hope you enjoy the images below...stay tuned for party pictures...this post was going to be too long so I decided to break it into two!

BIG thanks to
Loft for Pam and the bridesmaids hair and makeup.
the Canmore Golf and Curling Club for hosting their wedding.
Phil with Philip Chong Flower Bar for the amazing floral arrangements
Lesley and her staff with Magical Moments Events for her skills in decor and organization...wow!

Twinkling Eyes - Calgary Children's Photography

Meet my friend Sicily...or as I like to call her..... Miss Siss.  She has got the biggest dimples, huge smile and eyes that overflow with mischievousness.  Those eyes are always twinkling and a smile is never too far off.  She is free with her hugs and I love it when she grabs my hand as we walk. Yup....she's a special little girl!

Miss Siss started dance this year and when I heard she had a dance outfit she needed to model I knew she was ready for some time in front of my camera!  As we wandered around Fish Creek, she'd stop to check out the smallest things and it was fun to help her pick flowers and try and figure out their names.  We discovered a lavender bluebell...I didn't know they existed but Miss Siss showed me!  Most of my children's and family photo sessions just involve me walking around and taking pictures of moments instead of poses and Siss provided me with many many moments.  Thanks for the walk Miss Siss!

There is something about this image that I just LOVE!
I can't explain it, but it is one of my favourites.

Celebrating 90 Years with the Ma Family - Calgary Family Photography

Sam Ma was born in August 1922.....he moved to Canada about 30 years ago. And this last Sunday I had the privilege of meeting him and his family.  His grandchildren came home for the weekend to honour him and celebrate Sam's 90th birthday.  I didn't get the opportunity to visit with Sam as we don't speak the same language, but I will tell you this. It was cooking hot outside on Sunday and Sam put up with me, my camera, and location ideas and didn't complain.  He quietly followed me as I made suggestions and then he made photo requests along the way.  I enjoyed his quiet way and reserved smile that he pulled out when I needed it!

Prince's Island Park was hopping with people on Sunday. Everyone was wanting to enjoy the gorgeous weather, and either find some good shade or soak up the sun in the water!  The Peace Bridge was full of families enjoying the day and I got watch the police apprehend or ticket some poor fool that decided jumping off the bridge would be a great way to cool off....sigh....camera was not in hand at that time.  In spite of the busyness of the park, we prevailed and found some nice shady spots to take photos, even if it required me stepping out of my comfort zone and asking random strangers to move...although I did work around the shirtless elderly gentlemen sporty a portly stature....dude wouldn't get out of my shot! Thank goodness for cropping!! ;-)

It was a great pleasure to meet the Ma family and I'm sure they had a great dinner on Sunday night. Thanks for asking me to capture this moment in time, I had fun getting to know you!

The Taylor Family - Calgary Family Photography

I had an enjoyable afternoon wandering around Glennfield in Fish Creek Park last weekend with the Taylor family.  It was a busy enjoyable as you can imagine the acrobatics required when shooting children under 4, now imagine 4 of them! Yes, it was fun and I enjoyed getting to know them all a bit better as we thought we were going to battle the weather that day. But it turned into a gorgeous afternoon that was completed with a picnic in the park....pizza style!  Thanks again Taylor family for inviting me to the park and letting me capture where you're at right now!

Family Date Night on c koop photography! - Calgary Family Photography

Summer time = beaches, swimming, campfires, ice cream, s'mores, bike rides, kick the can...I could go on and on and on. I LOVE summer! Summer + Carly = love.

Summer also means time to start thinking about family photos....what? Summer and family photos? You betcha baby!  I know that not everybody gets excited about family photos and I think that's because they work themselves up about it.  Let me make this easy for you.....clean yourselves up, put on some coordinating outfits and let me hang out with your family at a favourite place.  I'll even make it easier on you....check out my what to wear Pinterest board.  It gives you some ideas you can take and run with in regards of what to wear.

After we've had a great time together shooting photos I will treat you to a family date night at Marble Slab.  How fun is that? You get to spend some time together as a family hanging out in a special place, get some new images for your walls AND....eat some ice cream!

All you need to do is book a family photo session by the end of August 2012 for a date between now and October 30, 2012 by emailing me carly@ckoop.com, using the contact page on my website or dropping a message on my Facebook page.  Photo sessions need take place in Calgary and surrounding area.

I'm a chocaholic so my favourite flavours usually involve that yummy creamy flavour mixed with some other amazing addition.  But....for those of you that like to live life on the edge check out these odd flavours!  I don't think Marble Slab carries them, but you could always ask!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me and I'll help you out!
