Shanley Rocks her Dress - Calgary Wedding Photographer

It was cool and a little windy that Friday afternoon and in true country girl form Shan put up with the cold and totally rocked her dress!  We met up in a park in Regina Saskatchewan and wandered through the gorgeous fall colours!  Shanley was so fun to shoot, every moment resulted in laughter!  But when I asked her to lose her smile for a shot or two she shone!  The camera loved her!  And how gorgeous are her eyes???

I love hearing which image is your favourite, so please share with me!

If you're interested in getting back into your wedding gown and rocking your dress for the camera....OR....if you want to update the images on your wall contact me!

Party Time with Adam and Victoria! - Calgary Wedding Photographer

This was a great party! The party had really barely started and everyone jumped in with both feet.  Because Adam and Victoria have surrounded themselves with such a fun group of people, the Carriage House Inn was rocking!  From a drinking contest, to hilarious stories being told during the dinner hour, to a drinking game being played during the speeches, this reception was full of fun and laughter.

The Carriage House hosted a great dinner and dance that evening.  I don't get to enjoy my reception meals very much as I'm trying to catch images and build a slide show, but I definitely slowed down and ate this one a little more leisurely!

My favourite part of the party? Hands down.....Adam and Victoria's first dance. They had prepared me for something choreographed, but I didn't expect what they did. I LOVED IT!  Editing the dance images made me smile and laugh out loud all over again.  It just sealed the deal in my mind that these two are the real thing and that they love life.  I'm sure the videographer got a lot of my laughing and cheering during their dance as he was right next to me!

Enjoy the images.

Again....thanks again Adam and Victoria, it was a great day and I'm so thankful that you found me!

Adam and Victoria Got Married! - Calgary Wedding Photography

What can I say about Adam and Victoria......simply? I love spending time with them.  These two? Quality couple. I was soooo blessed to be able to spend their wedding day capturing their relationship, promises, family and friends.  It.was.memorable.  Victoria is one of the sweetest women you'll ever meet....always friendly, smiling and always has an encouraging word.  Adam is such a respectful and thoughtful guy, with a big dose of fun.  These two are a perfect match.

I entered Adam and Victoria's house to find a relaxed houseful of women sipping on mimosa's, listening to country music, visiting and watching the make up process.  Victoria was glow....ing. Just glowing.  There is a glow that exists on a bride's face on the day of her wedding that is unmatched...Victoria....totally glowing.  I fell in love with her gown about a millisecond after seeing it.  LOVED IT! Victoria and Adam are very laid back and at no point in the day was anyone scrambling or rushing or feeling late. I loved that we just moved through the day taking time to enjoy the moments given.

The Pioneer Club in downtown Calgary was the setting for their wedding ceremony and it is such a lovely location! A gorgeous view overlooking the Elbow River with the mountains in the far background.  The autumn colours were showing themselves and the sky was so blue....a perfect spot to make promises that will last forever.

Adam and Victoria have surrounded themselves with some fun people and I laughed a lot with the wedding party during their photos.  This group kept me on my toes!

My favourite part of every single wedding day? The time just with the bride and groom and my camera.  We had the location (Pearce Estates Park) basically to ourselves and I enjoyed wandering around with them and behind them just watching them.  I kept pointing out to Adam how gorgeous his wife was and it wasn't hard to see the love pouring out of his eyes for Victoria.  Stolen moments, kisses, smiles, whispers and laughter.  That marks our time in the park.  Those little moments make my job so fulfilling and confirm just how important the photos are to the day.

Adam and Victoria thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your wedding day.  I am honoured that you chose me to document this momentous day!

The party was so much fun I've decided to give it a post all on it's own....stay tuned!
I am having a hard time choosing my favourite image/images from the day...which is yours?

The girl across the street - The Norton Family - Calgary Family Photographer

The doorbell rang in the middle of a rainy summer afternoon and who was at the door but Little Milla Miller (aka. Aaron/Bucky).  "You have to come see this right away!!".... Nikki, Jenny and I hesitantly followed Aaron out the door. You see.....depending on the day we could be hanging out playing something with Aaron or be in the middle of feud that involved hurling rotten crab apples at each other across the street from our perches in the trees. But....he then said...."Miranda wants to show you something." Yup...he said the magic word...Miranda. You see Miranda was Aaron's sister and well...to be honest....I kinda secretly stalked Miranda. She was about 4 years older than me and well...I idolized her. There...it's now out there...yes I IDOLIZED MIRANDA!!!

Anyways, back to my story....so we ran across the street with Aaron and followed him up the 2 flights of stairs to their attic.  He was being strangely quiet as we walked up the last flight and whispered..."be careful!".  The attic door creaked open and there stood Miranda in the dimly lit room with her eyes wide open staring at a rocking chair. (okay I do have to admit here that I was kinda surprised that she was looking so intently at a rocking chair, but whatever..it was MIRANDA!!). "Look!" she said. "The rocking chair is rocking on it's own...I think our attic is haunted!"

So let me stop here for a minute and just say that you need to remember that I had Nik and Jen with me and given that they were younger of course fled the room screaming in terror as they saw the rocking chair moving on it's own with Miranda and Aaron standing beside us.  I'm really not too sure if I was frozen in terror or skepticism.  But it took me only a few more seconds before I realized that there was a string attached to the chair leading to a laundry hamper.  I followed the string and opened the hamper to see Lori gently pulling the string to make the chair rock. "BUSTED!"  I must admit I was torn on whether to be hurt or honoured that they chose me to trick. Anyways, no hard feelings but it's definitely something I've never forgotten!

Yes, I loved that Miranda was my neighbour and that I got to visit with her at random moments.  I remember feeling so honoured that she invited my family to her graduation celebration.  I still remember that red flamenco inspired grad gown.  Coincidentally I too had a shiny red grad gown.....no I didn't copy her...totally coincidence.

The Miller family were a big part of my childhood and I am so thankful for that. Visits in the yard, crab apple fights across the street, early bird swimming, street hockey...all with the Millers.  That's why I was so excited when Miranda asked if I was available to shoot her family photos when I was in Regina over Thanksgiving.  Of course I was available!

And of course it was the coldest and windiest day of the whole Thanksgiving weekend that we had scheduled photos, but the Norton family totally put up with it!  I had a great time at Wascana Park in Regina capturing their family and getting to know them and catch up a little bit.  Miranda hadn't changed one bit. Miranda, you have a lovely family, I sure did enjoy myself!

I hope you enjoy the images!  If you're looking for some new shots for your wall, contact me!

See? Hasn't changed....except she's not wearing her shiny red grad dress!

I love this image of Miranda.
