Team Currie - Calgary Family Photography

Family - that's what the Currie's are all about.  Spend a little time with them and you understand who they are pretty quickly.  Faith, family and friends.  That would sum them up nicely, but in my typical rambling fashion I'll expand on it.

Hands down this family loves Jesus, no question.  Their passion for sharing their lives and relationship with Jesus is evident in the way they reach out to those around them.

Family? Wow, these guys are the poster children for family.  Team Currie.  Need I say more?  I love hearing how Todd and Carmelita foster a sense of unity in their home.  A safe place where everyone is encouraged to value, love, respect and honor Jesus and one another.  What a great place for a child to grow up!  I love the family necklaces they've made, all similar but each highlighting some family memory that is important to them individually.

Friends. Yup. Lots of friends!  They have created their own Calgary family with a great group of friends that they regularly share life with.

It was an absolute pleasure spending the afternoon with Todd, Carmelita and their kids.  Carmelita is a photographer herself and helped me shoot a wedding this summer, so the pressure was on!  We went to a special wall in the city and they had a blast working it.  We've played Guitar Hero with this family and they are aMAzing at it!  So it made sense to work it into the shoot.  The kids were a blast and kept me on my toes throughout the whole shoot finding new spots and we were all thankful for the Wendy's frosties we were treated to at the end.

Thank you Currie family....it was fun!

Enjoy the images.  Share some comment love!

Laughter is an instant vacation....The Martin Family - Prince George Family Photography

I never really got to know Gerren's family while we lived in Prince George, but after this afternoon I sure wish I had gotten to know them! What a BLAST! It was a beautiful afternoon, the Martin family lives out in the country and their yard was aMAzing!  I was up to shoot Gerren and Leslie's wedding and this yard was ceremony-worthy for sure! The colors were just gorgeous, the faces were clean, shirts were pressed and the Martin family was ready for some fun!

I had such a fun time shooting this family.  I walked away from this shoot admiring Lois a little bit more!  Being the only female in a house of 5 guys would send most women to the looney bin, but not Lois!  It was enlightening to sit back and watch her interact with her men.  There was lots of joking, sharing stories and poking fun and through it all Lois just glowed with pride.  This family is tight, they are not just family, but truly are friends and enjoy being together.  Something that I pray will be part of the legacy in my own home. In 20 years I hope to be able to capture this same thing in our family photos.  Pat and Lois have raised a wonderful family and as the additions keep coming they open their arms a little bit more to make room!

My face hurt after this shoot, Lisa and I were welcomed immediately and I knew we were "okay" when the first slam came my way within a matter of minutes. Aahh...accepted! If they can dish it out then they should be able to handle it! Anyways, it was a fun afternoon, one I will look back on very fondly.  It's true that "laughter is an instant vacation" because I had a great trip with the Martin family! Thank you Martin family for letting us document this time in your family history.  Enjoy the images, we most certainly enjoyed shooting them!

PS - Isn't this yard beautiful? It just went on and on and on and on.

I'm thinking that the sense of humor for this family goes back a couple generations!

I loved this set of images, this boy is LOVED!!!
 This image? .......FAVE!!!!

This boy's life will never EVER be boring with these men around!
 Again...another fave....he is loved!
I LOVE that Lois bought them matching sweaters. There were NO smart
remarks made about being matchy matchy at ALL!!! :-)

Not much has changed....the Koop Family - Calgary Family Photography

A big warm hug, and words of welcome along with a lesson in how to make the perfect cup of hot cocoa.  These are some of my first memories of Conroy and Sheila.  We stepped into their little green house in Steinbach just about 19 years ago and I felt welcomed immediately.  Garth and I had been recently engaged and I went to his place for New Year's Eve.  I felt like part of the family right away.  Conroy teased me like a brother would, Sheila told me stories and I was instantly part of the family.  Not much has changed and for that I'm thankful.  Sheila still has amusing stories to share and has morphed into a great older sister and Conroy is even more like my brother!

There is always something going on in that house of theirs.  A game being played at the table, someone jumping on the trampoline, guests sitting around the firepit in the backyard......this Koop house is full of action.  We have been blessed enough to share in the day to day with Con, Sheila, Savannah, Joe and Mitch on and off for a few years.  It's great having family a short bike ride away, it makes Calgary seem much smaller!

I had a great time with these guys.  It had been over 10 years since we last met for a family photo, so things had definitely changed! But one thing hadn't, it was still interesting getting them to all look at the camera at the same time, somebody was always laughing or saying something to make someone laugh.  It was a great afternoon.  Enjoy the images...I sure enjoyed shooting them!
