An Almost Wintery Wonderland....then it warmed up-The Burrill Family Photos

I'll admit it.....I'm a summer girl...no shame there.....just love.summer.  But.....there are a few things that I do like about winter.....and one of them? Hoarfrost. Yes, the glorious appearance of frozen snow upon the branches, blades of grass, leaves and structure.....like love it.  I had been itching to go out and shoot in last week's gorgeous yummy light with the hoarfrost.....and low and behold....I got an email from Marsha asking if I was available to do a family photo session....of course!
Me- When?
Marsha -Well....I love how wintery it looks outside right now....
Me- Okay....we'll have to move fast to catch this snowiness.....
Marsha -sure...how about tomorrow?
Me - Whhaaaaat? Really? OKAY!!

So....the very next afternoon (at the yummy light time) I met up with the Burrill family.  Sadly I watched the frost quickly melt off the trees about 2 hours before our start time.  Thankfully the east side of the trees were still snowy looking!  That is the peril of living in the foothills....you never ever know what's going to happen weather wise.  Anyways.....I had a great time wandering around the park with the family and was so appreciative of the great light and gorgeous smiles I had to work with!

If you're interested in having some new images up on your wall, contact me and we'll make a date! Obviously I don't always need a lot of notice! If you see hoarfrost and want some wintery photos....call me!

Radiant - A Country Girl at Heart - Calgary Beauty Glamour Photographer

I had the pleasure of driving out east of the city a couple weeks ago and spending the afternoon with a new friend.  Sandra teaches at a small school outside of Calgary and asked me if I'd be interested in coming out to the country to do a photo shoot.  I never say no to travelling! And was looking forward to shooting outside of Calgary and having a little bit of a country vibe in the photos!

Sandra? Ya she knocked this session out of the park!  How gorgeous is this woman?  One of the first things she mentioned when booking our session is that she just wanted to take some time and celebrate herself.  Just an hour or two to focus on her and capture this moment in time.  And capture we did!  We found a rather generous gentleman that allowed us to wander around his barnyard and hang with his horses and a donkey!  Sandra was amazing with the camera and I loved that I could capture her gorgeous smile!

Thanks again Sandra, I had a great time, I hope you enjoy the images!

If you are wanting some "me" time where you can shine in front of my camera, please contact me! I'd love to visit with you about you and some new photos for your wall!

Shanley Rocks her Dress - Calgary Wedding Photographer

It was cool and a little windy that Friday afternoon and in true country girl form Shan put up with the cold and totally rocked her dress!  We met up in a park in Regina Saskatchewan and wandered through the gorgeous fall colours!  Shanley was so fun to shoot, every moment resulted in laughter!  But when I asked her to lose her smile for a shot or two she shone!  The camera loved her!  And how gorgeous are her eyes???

I love hearing which image is your favourite, so please share with me!

If you're interested in getting back into your wedding gown and rocking your dress for the camera....OR....if you want to update the images on your wall contact me!

Adam and Victoria Got Married! - Calgary Wedding Photography

What can I say about Adam and Victoria......simply? I love spending time with them.  These two? Quality couple. I was soooo blessed to be able to spend their wedding day capturing their relationship, promises, family and friends.  It.was.memorable.  Victoria is one of the sweetest women you'll ever meet....always friendly, smiling and always has an encouraging word.  Adam is such a respectful and thoughtful guy, with a big dose of fun.  These two are a perfect match.

I entered Adam and Victoria's house to find a relaxed houseful of women sipping on mimosa's, listening to country music, visiting and watching the make up process.  Victoria was glow....ing. Just glowing.  There is a glow that exists on a bride's face on the day of her wedding that is unmatched...Victoria....totally glowing.  I fell in love with her gown about a millisecond after seeing it.  LOVED IT! Victoria and Adam are very laid back and at no point in the day was anyone scrambling or rushing or feeling late. I loved that we just moved through the day taking time to enjoy the moments given.

The Pioneer Club in downtown Calgary was the setting for their wedding ceremony and it is such a lovely location! A gorgeous view overlooking the Elbow River with the mountains in the far background.  The autumn colours were showing themselves and the sky was so blue....a perfect spot to make promises that will last forever.

Adam and Victoria have surrounded themselves with some fun people and I laughed a lot with the wedding party during their photos.  This group kept me on my toes!

My favourite part of every single wedding day? The time just with the bride and groom and my camera.  We had the location (Pearce Estates Park) basically to ourselves and I enjoyed wandering around with them and behind them just watching them.  I kept pointing out to Adam how gorgeous his wife was and it wasn't hard to see the love pouring out of his eyes for Victoria.  Stolen moments, kisses, smiles, whispers and laughter.  That marks our time in the park.  Those little moments make my job so fulfilling and confirm just how important the photos are to the day.

Adam and Victoria thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your wedding day.  I am honoured that you chose me to document this momentous day!

The party was so much fun I've decided to give it a post all on it's own....stay tuned!
I am having a hard time choosing my favourite image/images from the day...which is yours?

Mallory is Graduating! - Calgary Graduation Photographer

Meet Mallory....soccer player....future health care worker..... daughter ...sister....friend.....a young woman I like to call.....Mal Gal.  From the moment Garth and I heard her name we broke out into song.....singing.....Mallooooorrrreeeeeeeee.....Marreeeeeeee.....Meeeee. If you're not familiar with it think back to Family Ties - when Nick proposed to Mallory.

Yup......I've known Mallory from birth....she's my niece and I was so excited to be able to spend a little time with her wandering through the streets of Regina. Which by the way has some aMAzing locations!  It was a cool afternoon and Mallory put up with the frigid air and completely shone! For a young woman who doesn't like getting her picture taken I think she rocked it!

There are many big things ahead of Mal Gal and I'm very excited to see where she goes!

Thanks for letting me hang out with you Mallory, it was fun and I have many many favourites from this session!

21 years ago things looked a little different! - Calgary Family Photographer

21 years ago I found myself cutting the hair of a gorgeous guy by the name of Garth.  Did I cut hair?....Nope.....So why was I cutting his hair? Actually can't remember the exact reason but I'm sure it had something to do with the fact that I just wanted to spend more time with him.  I had just started cutting when he mentioned he was a groomsmen in his brother's wedding in 5 days. Waaaahhhhaaaat? My scissors stopped mid cut and I really slowed down.  I was NOT going to be responsible for the strange looking groomsmen in the wedding photos! Looking back both Garth and I have said that I really barely cut anything.  Maybe not, but I did get to hang out with the hottie for a little while! :-)

Fast forward 21 years and today I find Myron and Susan celebrating their wedding anniversary.  I wasn't there at the wedding as I was in the pre-girlfriend stage......thankfully it wasn't based upon my cutting skills!  Anyways, I spent some time with this great family over the Thanksgiving weekend as I do every year. It was a great time wandering around Wascana Park in Regina catching photos. I have watched this family change sooooo much over the last 20 years I've been a part of it and am excited about the things ahead for them!

Yes....I know that there aren't any pictures of Mallory in this set.  Stayed tuned to see some of her grad/senior photo session in the next little while!
